Cash Crop

In agriculture, a cash crop is a crop that is grown for money. The term is used to differentiate from subsistence crops, which are those fed to the producer's own livestock or grown as food for the producer's family.

Field Farms Ltd. grows a combination of cash crop and subsistence crops. The crop is rotated between wheat, corn, and soybeans following a five-year rotation to best serve the fields and harvest. Some of the wheat and soybeans are sold, while corn and the remaining soybeans and are used to feed the livestock.

The crop is grown with minimum tillage possible, with farm-produced fertilizer (solid and liquid manure). Soil health is of utmost importance.
