Field Farms raises naturally humane raised and handled pork from
farrow (birth) to finish.
Our herd of sows are carefully selected pigs that are in good health, with favorable genetics in respect to: fertility, health, meat quality, and longevity.
The same criteria are used when choosing boars from the pool for breeding purposes.
All piglets born on the farm are raised to full maturity.
As
pigs are very social animals, the same group of piglets that are born together
within one week stay together until maturity.
The pastures around Bear Creek are grazed in the summertime by a herd of 30 – 35 mother cows with their calves and a single bull. The bull secures the herd from predators and will guarantee the offspring for
the next year. In fall, the calves are weaned from their mothers
and raised in a different barn. This allows their mothers to
have time to recover and regain their strength for their next calves.
